This summer America SCORES Cleveland will be posting virtual writing and soccer lessons. Lessons are for any student who wants to stay active and work on their literacy skills.

Soccer Lessons
Monday – June 8th
Foundational Skills
Coach Ramona teaches foundational soccer skills such as toe taps and boxing. Watch Coach Ramona and then give it a try! Be sure to share your skills with us on Flipgrid! Use code “ascsoccer” and submit your video under the topic, “Foundation Skills”
Wednesday – June 10th
Introduction to Dribbling
Brush up on your dribbling skills with Coach Ramona. Show us how well your dribble by submitting your video on Flipgrid using code “ascsoccer.” Submit your video under the topic “Introduction to Dribbling.”

Ball Control on the Ground
Keeping control of the ball on the ground is extremely important. Maintaining control allows you to get around your opponents and make the next goal. Show off your skills by submitting your video on Flipgrid using code “ascsoccer”
Wednesday – June 17th
Ball Control from the Air
Sometimes the ball gets kicked high in the air and you have to regain control of it to get a chance to make a goal. Coach Ramona walks you through how to get that control back and score your team’s next point.

Passing and Receiving Part 1
You teammate is in the perfect spot to score a goal but you have the ball. How do you get them the ball so they can score? Coach Ramona teaches you how to accurately pass and receive the ball during a game. Remember show us your skill on Flipgrid using the code, “ascsoccer.”
Wednesday – June 24th
Passing and Receiving Part 2
Being able to receive the ball with your head up will help ensure you can make your next move. Coach Ramona walks you through how to receive the ball in this lesson.

Monday – June 29th
Shooting
Once you get control of the ball and make it down the field you now have to make the goal. Coach Ramona walks you through different shooting techniques to ensure you score the point for your team.
Wednesday – July 1st
Goalkeeping
As the goalie you are the last line of defense for your team. In this video Coach Ramona teaches you how to protect your goal and ensure the opposing team doesn’t scores.

Dribbling Part 2
Dribbling is one of the essential parts of soccer. Coach Ramona walks you through advanced techniques for dribbling. She shows you how to keep your head up while keeping control of the ball.

Step Over/Scissors
Coach Ramona walks you through how to evade your opponent and keep control of the ball.
Monday, July 13th
Ball Control with a Partner
Grab a friend, sibling or caregiver and practice keeping the ball under control when a partner send it to you. It is important to keep your head up to get control of the ball so you can score a goal.
