Meet Our Staff

Debra Pence-Meyenberg
Executive Director

Having grown up as a latchkey kid in a blue collar, single parent home, Debi feels that she can truly empathize with the youth that she is now helping to serve. As a first generation college graduate she says, “Looking back, I realized that so many members of the community provided the support that empowered me on my path. I want to help be that resource for our urban youth.” Now the E.D. of America SCORES, her goal is to provide youth with access to resources and support to succeed. She comes to the team with a myriad of nonprofit experience having volunteered for and served in leadership roles for City Year Cleveland and the Sierra Club’s Inspiring Connections Outdoors (ICO) Cleveland program. This volunteer experience is matched with a Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Management from Cleveland State University, and a Bachelors degree from Bowling Green State University. Debi is currently pursuing her Masters in Nonprofit Administration at John Carroll University.

Matthew Williams
 Soccer Director

To say that Matthew has a passion for community service is a bit of an understatement. For the last seven years he has been serving as a Sunday school teacher and is also pursuing a license to be a Lay Minister in the United Church of Christ. He’s been an active member of multiple boards and is a current board member for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Festival, but is also quick to get his hands dirty as a soccer coach. Matthew is a trained grade 8 U.S. Soccer Federation referee, completed the Coerver Coaching Seminar, and has also completed the OYSAN Youth 6 – 8 Soccer Coaching course. In addition, he’s completed the Treu-Mart Youth Development Fellowship Program offered by Case Western Reserve University to expand his awareness as a community leader in youth development and resilience. He also holds a B.S. in Political Science/Criminal Justice from the University of Akron. Matthew says, “I’m passionate about teaching youth something new.”

Claire Rollins
Program and Evaluation Director

Claire graduated from Case Western Reserve University with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and the Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Arts in English.  She is excited to use her background in community service, literacy, and health policy evaluation research as the program and evaluation manager. She also holds various volunteer roles at GiGi’s Playhouse, where she coordinates their literacy tutoring program and assists with different events and programs. Having the chance to revisit her previous experience as both a soccer player and coach makes Claire even more excited to help enrich the lives of today’s youth through America SCORES Cleveland.

Brittney Rzucidlo
Program and Communications Manager

Brittney is a Cleveland native who graduated from Miami University of Ohio in 2011 with a Creative Writing Degree. Once she graduated she knew she wanted to find a position that would allow her to use her writing skills to make a difference in Cleveland. She began working for The Literacy Cooperative in 2013, as an intern and then as their part-time Social Media Associate. Brittney initially joined America SCORES as a Writing Coach, and then as an AmeriCorps member, to help the urban youth in Cleveland find their voice and be able to express themselves through creative writing in ways they may not have been able to before. In January 2018 Brittney joined the America SCORES staff as Program & Communications Coordinator to increase brand awareness and the impact that the program has on Cleveland’s youth.  In her spare time, she enjoys reading and working on her own writing including a novel and a book of short stories

Alison Black
Associate Director

Alison graduated from Case Western Reserve University with a Master of Social Science Administration (MSSA) and the University of Dayton with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Prior to coming to SCORES Alison served as a Wraparound Coordinator in a Cleveland Metropolitan School. Alison saw first-hand how SCORES positively impacts youth and is excited to use her background to help SCORES grow and serve more students.  In her spare time Alison enjoys traveling, being around family & friends, and exploring all the city of Cleveland has to offer.

Josiah Quarles
Program Coordinator

Josiah is an America SCORES Cleveland lifer, having done work with America SCORES in various capacities for over 10 years. He has coached both writing and soccer, ran summer programming at Literacy for the Arts Summer Camp and twice served as a Coach Across America AmeriCorps member. Through Up2Us he is certified in sport based youth development, and is a certified referee.

Josiah grew up playing soccer from age five and eventually captained his Shaker Hts. High School varsity team. His early attempts at poetry began at age 10 and continue to this day. He is also a recording artist and performer with hip-hop troupe MuAmin Collective. America SCORES allows him to channel longstanding passions into the lives of Cleveland youth.

Ramona Paul
Program Coordinator

Ramona Paul graduated from the University of Akron with a bachelor’s degree  in English and Creative Writing. She began playing soccer at age 7, started coaching at age 15 and moved back to London in 2012 to pursue a career as a coach. This led to 6 years of coaching female, youth aged 2-18, adults and children with disabilities, club, elite, recreational and everything in between.

In 2018 she moved to Ghana to coach with a club in a rural village and attended an International Youth tournament in Sweden. Though soccer has taken her all over the world, writing has been there the whole time as well. She is an avid reader and prolific writer, who most enjoys the poetry of Ohio native Mary Oliver. From September 2019, she has worked for America SCORES Cleveland as a coach and now program coordinator. SCORES brings together her three passions of soccer, writing and community service in a beautiful way. She currently also works for three other soccer organizations that span from 2 year old beginners to high school elite, and is a certified referee. Ramona’s main goal in life is to give more to the world, than she’s taken and to share her love of poetry and soccer with as many people as possible and has found America SCORES Cleveland to be the perfect place to do so.
