Our Mission
America SCORES Cleveland inspires Cleveland youth to lead healthy lives, be engaged students, and have the confidence and character to make a difference in the world.
History
America SCORES was founded in 1994 in Washington DC and currently serves over 15,000 students in school districts with low-income, minority communities: Boston, Chicago, Cleveland, Los Angeles, Milwaukee, New York, Portland, San Francisco, Seattle, St. Louis, Washington D.C., and Vancouver, Canada.
America SCORES Cleveland, previously Cleveland SCORES, was founded in the spring of 2004 with programming for 120 students in four inner-city west side elementary schools. Today, America SCORES serves over 1,500 students, grades 1-12, through partnerships with sixteen K-8 Cleveland Metropolitan schools across the city, summer collaborations, and a high school alumni program.
During the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup Volkswagen generously donated ad space for a commercial about the America SCORES program as part of their #DriveBigger Campaign. Thank to Volkswagen for helping us to share how the SCORES program strives to lift communities through soccer, service and creative writing.
