Meet Our Staff

Debra Pence-Meyenberg
Executive Director

Having grown up as a latchkey kid in a blue collar, single parent home, Debi feels that she can truly empathize with the youth that she is now helping to serve. As a first generation college graduate she says, “Looking back, I realized that so many members of the community provided the support that empowered me on my path. I want to help be that resource for our urban youth.” Now the E.D. of America SCORES, her goal is to provide youth with access to resources and support to succeed. She comes to the team with a myriad of nonprofit experience having volunteered for and served in leadership roles for the Sierra Club’s Inspiring Connections Outdoors (ICO) Cleveland program and Girls Scouts of Northeast Ohio. This volunteer experience is matched with a Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Management from Cleveland State University, and a Bachelors degree from Bowling Green State University.

Matthew Williams
Program & Soccer Director

To say that Matthew has a passion for community service is a bit of an understatement. For the last seven years he has been serving as a Sunday school teacher and is also pursuing a license to be a Lay Minister in the United Church of Christ. He’s been an active member of multiple boards and is a current board member for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Festival, but is also quick to get his hands dirty as a soccer coach. Matthew is a trained grade 8 U.S. Soccer Federation referee, completed the Coerver Coaching Seminar, and has also completed the OYSAN Youth 6 – 8 Soccer Coaching course. In addition, he’s completed the Treu-Mart Youth Development Fellowship Program offered by Case Western Reserve University to expand his awareness as a community leader in youth development and resilience. He also holds a B.S. in Political Science/Criminal Justice from the University of Akron. Matthew says, “I’m passionate about teaching youth something new.”

Kristene Tadese
Program Assistant

Kristene graduated from Princeton University in 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy and International Affairs. While at Princeton, she served in a number of leadership roles where she organized large-scale events with campus ministries and her a Capella group. At the same time, her undergraduate studies fostered her commitment to community development. During two summers in Cleveland, she enrolled Cleveland residents in Medicaid and contributed to community outreach efforts at Neighborhood Family Practice. Furthermore, Kristene’s tutoring jobs over the years have reinforced her desire to work with youth. She currently organizes youth events and mentors teens at her church. Along with the chance to apply her event-planning experience, passion for youth and commitment to community work, getting to revive her high school soccer skills has made Kristene’s time at America SCORES especially valuable to her.

Thank you to Greg Murray for the amazing staff photos.
